Oilmeal exports increased by 58% to 2,50,335 tonnes in June from 1,58,750 tonne in the same month last year, helped by record oilseeds output, according to trade data released today.

"The export of oilmeals during April-June, 2011, is doubled and reported at 10,72,098 tonnes, compared to 5,36,700 tonne during the same period of last year," the Solvent Extractor's Association said in a statement.

The country produced a record 30.25 million tonne in the 2010-11 crop year (July-June), as against 24.88 million tonnes in the previous year, according to the government data.

"Increased availability of oilseeds led to higher crushing and production of oil and meals for domestic and export," SEA said.

Japan, China, Vietnam and South Korea were the major importers of Indian oilmeals, which is generally used as animal feed, during the April-June period of 2011.
