Reliance GDR rises 2.83%

 Among ISDI global depository receipts, five advanced and only two lost ground. The major gainers were Reliance (up 2.83 per cent to $24), State Bank of India (up 2.48 per cent to $31) and Ranbaxy (up 1.93 per cent to $23.20). The losers were Hindalco (down 2.19 per cent to $22.75) and Bajaj Auto (down 1.55 per cent to $19).

 On October 23, among eight ISDI American depository receipts, four advanced and four lost ground. The major gainers were ICICI Bank (up 1.80 per cent to $11.90), VSNL (up 0.56 per cent to $5.39) and Satyam Computer (up 0.12 per cent to $16.25) and the major losers were MTNL (down 3.03 per cent to $5.12), HDFC Bank (down 2.86 per cent to $23.76) and Wipro (down 2.67 per cent to $33.60).

 The ISDI, which represents the ADRs and GDRs of 15 actively-traded companies, dipped further by 1.72 per cent to 833.36 on October 23 as against 847.95 on October 22, an Instanex Capital release said.

 The ISDI P/E ratio also slipped by 1.74 per cent to 16.43 from 16.72, previously.

 Among the ISDI ADRs and GDRs, there were ten losers, four gainers and only one held steady.

 The GDR of Larsen & Toubro eased to $17.74 from $17.70, previously. However, the GDRs of Hindalco, State Bank of India and Ranbaxy Labs rose to $23.35, $30.33 and $22.40, respectively as against $24.69, $31.63 and $23.25, previously.

 Elsewhere in the world the Nasdaq composite index slipped 12.56 points down to 1,885.51 on Thursday, the Dow Jones industrial average went up 14.89 points to 9,613.13.
