Rice basmati, wheat dara weakens on reduced offtake

Rice basmati and wheat prices declined by up to Rs 100 per quintal in the wholesale grains market today on sluggish demand against adequate stocks.
Traders said sufficient stocks positions following increased arrivals from the producing region amid reduced offtake by flour mills led to the decline in wheat dara prices. They added sluggish demand led to the fall in rice basmati Pusa-1121 variety.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) remained weak and shed another Rs 5 to Rs 1,175-1,180 per quintal, while atta chakki delivery traded lower by the same margin to Rs 1,180-1,185 per 90 kg.
In the rice section, rice basmati Pusa-1121 variety traded lower at Rs 4,150-4,900 from previous level of Rs 4,200-5,000 per quintal.
