Rice prices down on subdued demand, adequate supply

Rice basmati and non-basmati prices fell up to Rs 150 per quintal on the wholesale grains market today, owing to slackness in demand at prevailing levels amid adequate supply.
Traders said adequate stocks position following increased arrivals from producing belts amid sluggish demand at prevailing levels.
In the national capital, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety fell by Rs 100 and Rs 150 to Rs 5,400-5,500 and Rs 4,050-5,050 per quintal, respectively.
Permal raw, wand, sela and IR-8 were also traded lower by Rs 25 each to Rs 1,850-1,900, Rs 2,050-2,150, Rs 2,100-2,175 and Rs 1,750-1,775 per quintal, respectively.
