Sensex down 139pts; Hindalco slumps 6%

The Sensex touched a low of 12,132, and is now down 139 points at 12,146.

Hindalco has slumped 5.6% to Rs 229, and Tata Steel has dropped 3.8% to Rs 620. Grasim has shed nearly 3% to Rs 2,186.

While HDFC Bank has declined 1.8% to Rs 860, ICICI Bank has slipped 1.6% to Rs 626.

Reliance and Bharti Airtel have dropped 1.5% each to Rs 1,051 and Rs 409, respectively.

Out of 2,500 stocks traded so far, 1,322 have advanced, 1,130 have declined and 48 are unchanged.
