Sensex down 234pts; ITC sheds 4%

The NSE Nifty is down 50 points at 5,085.

Technology stocks are reeling under severe selling pressure. Satyam and TCS have plunged 4.5% each to Rs 467 and Rs 924, respectively. Infosys and Wipro have dropped around 4% each to Rs 1,765 and Rs 480, respectively.

ITC has shed 4% at Rs 218. Reliance Energy has tumbled nearly 3% to Rs 1,395.

HDFC Bank has slumped 2.5% at Rs 1,504. ICICI Bank, Jaiprakash Associates and Larsen & Toubro have slipped over 2% each to Rs 898, Rs 269 and Rs 2,923, respectively.

Tata Motors has declined nearly 2% to Rs 667, and Maruti has shed 1.5% at Rs 763.

 

SBI and Hindalco are down 1% each at Rs 1,750 and Rs 178, respectively.

ACC, Reliance Communications and Bharti Airtel are up 1% each at Rs 745, Rs 546 and Rs 824, respectively.
