Sensex down 251pts; breadth -ve

The NSE Nifty is down 54 points at 5,081.

ITC has slumped 5% to Rs 216. Satyam and Infosys have plunged over 3% each to Rs 473 and Rs 1,785, respectively.

ICICI Bank and Larsen & Toubro have dropped nearly 3% each to Rs 894 and Rs 2,900, respectively. Reliance Energy has shed 2.3% at Rs 1,403.

TCS, Jaiprakash Associates, HDFC Bank and SBI have slipped around 2% each to Rs 945, Rs 269, Rs 1,513 and Rs 1,735, respectively.

Tata Steel has surged over 2% to Rs 843. ACC and Bharti Airtel are up over 1% at Rs 745 and Rs 826, respectively.

 

Out of 2,713 stocks traded so far, 1,592 have declined and 1,062 have advanced and 59 are unchanged.
