Sensex up 102pts; Sterlite surges 7%

The Sensex is now up 102 points at 8,797.

Sterlite has surged 6.7% to Rs 218. Wipro has soared 4.5% to Rs 239.

ICICI Bank has rallied over 4% to Rs 333, and HDFC Bank has gained 3.8% at Rs 867.

Bharti Airtel and Reliance have moved up 2.7% each to Rs 643 and Rs 1,099, respectively.

NTPC has advanced nearly 2% to Rs 157.

Mahindra & Mahindra has tumbled nearly 5% to Rs 263. Maruti has plunged 4.3% to Rs 512.

Reliance Communications has shed 3.5% at Rs 189. BHEL, Infosys and Tata Steel have dropped around 2% each at Rs 1,256, Rs 1,157 amd Rs 148, respectively.
