STC floats bids for import of pulses

State-run trading company STC has invited bids for the import of 12,000 tonnes of pulses for sale in the domestic market.   

Bids will close on March 4 and a decision on award of the tender will be taken on the same day, the company said.  

STC is seeking the delivery of pulses at the Mumbai and Chennai ports between March and April this year. Pulses imports should be from Myanmar, Canada and the US and of current season (2010-11), it said.

India imports 3-4 million tonnes of pulses annually to meet the domestic demand.
