Committee of secretaries of union commerce, agriculture and textile ministry have in their meeting decided to continue with current cotton exports policy.
They felt that situation with respect to cotton availability, prices and export is satisfactory.
Cotton advisory board has raised exports target for current year to 8 million bales and after relaxing norms for exports registration last week, exports have started picking up and even cotton prices have shot up in a fortnight nearly 5.9%.
Shankar-6 variety cotton today closed in Mumbai at Rs 10,095 per quintal.
