Sugar weakens on poor demand

Sugar prices slipped further at the Vashi wholesale market here today owing to reduced stockists and retail buying on the back of adequate stock availability.

Small sugar (S-30) eased by Rs 8 per quintal to Rs 2,592/2,652 from Monday's closing level of Rs 2,600/2,652.

Medium sugar (M-30) also moved down by Rs 5/7 per quintal to Rs 2,661/2,791 as compared to Rs 2,668/2,796 yesterday.

The following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal), with the previous rates given in brackets:
