US indices end weak

After an extended weekend market close till Monday, the US markets dropped sharply yesterday following mixed economic news. While the Dow Jones tanked 75 points to 10,467, the Nasdaq lost eight points to close at 2,068.

Barring select tech ADRs, other floats fared badly on the US bourses. Infosys moved up 2.61% to $72.34. While Satyam gained 1.27% to $24.71, Wipro ended marginally weak at $20.92.

HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Dr. Reddy's, Tata Motors and VSNL eased on selling pressure to close at $41.89, $19.43, $16.20, $9.85 and $9.63, respectively. MTNL, however, jumped 3% to $6.49.
