US mining machinery firm plans outsourcing

Sangita Shah Mumbai
US-based Brookeville Equipment Corporation (BEC) has set its eyes on India to outsource its products to cater to its export requirements to the Asian, Chinese and Australian markets.
The company has signed a memorandum of understanding with Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML) for manufacturing mining equipment.
Brookeville has evolved into becoming a world leader in the development, manufacture and distribution of specialised mining & tunneling equipment. BEC is looking forward to investing and marketing opportunities in India.
Dalph McNeil, president and chief executive officer, BEC, said, "Our focus is on mining & tunneling, aviation ground support equipment and the Indian rail industry for specialty shunting equipment as well as railroad parts (purchase and supply). We consider India to be a major economic power in Asia-Pacific region and look forward to extend our business relation with local companies."
Besides, India being a high quality product manufacturer, there would be fewer quality problems at a later stage, he pointed out.
"India has a huge English speaking population and technically skilled manpower for the equipment manufacturing business. This is a strong point for the country to be a manufacturing base for us," McNeil said.
BEC manufactures haulage equipment for underground coal mining, hard rock and precious metal mining, tunnel construction, industrial switching, and airport ground support applications worldwide.
A global industry leader for the past 85 years, Brookeville customises, engineers, designs, and manufactures equipment to perform dependably in the most severe conditions.
Brookeville Equipment Corporation, in recent years, has been most active in mining & tunneling locomotives, personnel carriers, rubber-tired vehicles, utility jeeps, industrial locomotives, trolley & locomotive restoration projects for a variety of clients.
