Weak close in the offing; Wipro drops 8%

The NSE Nifty is down 174 points at 4,142.

HDFC has plunged 8.5% to Rs 2,028. Wipro has tumbled over 8% to Rs 437.

Tata Motors has plunged 7.7% to Rs 450, and Jaiprakash Associates has slumped 6.8% to Rs 142.

Ambuja Cements and Reliance Infrastructure have shed 6.5% each at Rs 80 and Rs 881, respectively.

ICICI Bank and Mahindra & Mahindra have dropped over 6% each to Rs 643 and Rs 505, respectively.

DLF and ONGC are down over 5% each at Rs 420 and Rs 819, respectively.
