Weekly Market Report: Jaggery

Press Trust of India New Delhi

Jaggery: In an otherwise steady jaggery market, prices of gur pedi declined marginally by Rs 50 per quintal in the national capital during the past week on the back of increased supply from manufacturing areas amid reduced offtake by stockist and local parties.

Market analysts said sustained supply from manufacturing belt of Uttar Pradesh mainly enlarged stocks position against limited buying and pulled down the prices.

On the other hand, gur khurpa prices gained up to Rs 124 in Muzzafarnagar on paucity of stocks, while Muradnagar gur market remained flat on limited deals.

In Delhi, gur pedi lost by Rs 50 at Rs 2,900-3,000 as compared to last week's close of Rs 2,950-3,000 per quintal on fresh supply. Gur chakku prices ruled flat on some support at Rs 2,800-2,900, while both gur dhayya and shakkar remained steady at Rs 3,100-3,200 per quintal.

At Muzzafarnagar, gur khurpa gained Rs 125 to Rs 2,250-2,375 against last week's close of Rs 2,200-2,250 per quintal on paucity of stocks, while gur chakku and raskat prices maintained last week's levels of Rs 2,375-2,625 and Rs 2,200-2,300 per quintal, respectively.

In Muradnagar, gur pedi held unchanged at Rs 2,600-2,650 per quintal on some support. Gur dhayya prices remain unquoted due to unavailability of stocks.
