Wheat, barley prices up on fresh buying support

In mixed pattern of trading, wheat and barley prices rose on fresh buying activity against tight supply, while bajra and maize declined on adequate supply. 

Traders said fresh buying against restricted arrivals mainly led to the price rise of wholesale wheat and barley.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) rose by Rs 10 to Rs 1,310-1,315 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by the same margin to Rs 1,315-1,320, while atta flour mills gained Rs 10 to Rs 690-710 per 50 kg. 

Maida traded Rs 5 higher to Rs 770-800 per 50 kg in line with wheat trend. Barley is also seen in demand and advanced by Rs 30 to Rs 1,230-1,250 per quintal.

On the other hand, bajra and maize prices declined by Rs 20 and Rs 30 to Rs 800-810 and Rs 1,010-1,020 per quintal.

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 9,500, Shri Lal Mahal 9,300, Super basmati rice 9,000, Basmati common 5,700-5,800, rice Pusa-(1121) 4,350-5,250, Permal raw 1,875-1,925, Permal wand 2,000-2,150, Sela 2,165-2,220 and Rice IR-8 1,685-1,710

Bajra 800-810, Jowar yellow 900-1,000, white 1,900-1,950, Maize 1010-1020, Barley (UP) 1,230-1,250 and Rajasthan 1,080-1,090
