Zinc futures gain 0.80% on global cues

Press Trust of India New Delhi

Zinc futures prices gained 0.80 per cent, to Rs 112.95 per kg today after traders covered up their short positions, driven by firming trend in the global markets.

Zinc for delivery in the current month, October traded 95 paise, or 0.80 per cent, higher at Rs 112.95 per kg, with a business turnover of 31 lots at the Multi Commodity Exchange platform.

The metal for delivery in November traded higher by 90 paise, or 0.80 per cent, to Rs 113.80 per kg, with an open interest of five lots.

Marketmen said firming trend in the entire base metals pack at the London Metal Exchange, as weaker dollar raised appeal of commodities as an alternative investment, helped zinc futures to trade higher here.
