ANI Kabul (Afghanistan)

Afghanistan's President, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, on Monday said that his government is determined to introduce reforms and end the regime of administrative corruption in the country.

"Corruption is still a big challenge, and we have the resolve to fight the menace," President Ghani was quoted, as saying at a meeting of the Joint Coordination and Monitoring Board (JCMB) in Kabul.

The JCMP, according to reports, is a decision-making body established by the Afghan government and international community that provides a platform for strategic coordination, joint policy formulation and problem-solving in Afghanistan.

President Ghani said combatting corruption would increase revenue and alleviate poverty in the war-ravaged country.

The poverty rate in Afghanistan has reportedly increased from 46 percent in 2013 to 49 percent in 2014 mainly due to the withdrawal of foreign forces from the war-hit country.
