Amritsar: Fake notes worth Rs. 75 lakh recovered, six arrested

The Amritsar rural police on Thursday recovered fake currency worth Rs. 75 lakh and arrested six persons in this regard.

The scrapped notes were in the denominations of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000, the police said.

The accused have been identified as Sukhraj Singh, Naveen, Pawan, Arun, Rajat and Pamit.

On investigation, the accused used to collect fake currency from market and get it converted into new currency notes.

In a joint operation of Amritsar rural and Commissionerate, the fake notes were kept in a house in Basant Avenue.

The Income Tax department has been alerted about the seizure.

An FIR has been registered in this regard.

 

Further investigation is on.
