Assam: 'Silence Zone' declared around educational institutions, religious places

The district administration of Kamrup (Metropolitian) has declared 'Silence Zone' in and around educational institutions in Assam.

The 'silence zone' is declared in a radius of 100 metres in compliance with the directions received from the Assam Government vide Rule 3 (2) of the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules 2000 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986..

Besides educational institutions, the notification will also be applicable to hospitals, religious places, court area, important installations and other important offices.

In the notification, the State Government also ordered the State Pollution Control Board to collect, compile and publish technical and statistical data relating to noise pollution.

 

It also asked about the measures taken to check noise pollution.
