The Australian government has said that it will introduce new laws before the Parliament on Wednesday, aiming to strip citizenship from dual nationals involved in terrorism.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott said that the changes to the Australian Citizenship Act would apply to up to half of the 120 Australians fighting along with the Islamic State (IS) in Iraq and Syria, reported the BBC.

The government has further said that the new laws will ensure that militants with dual nationality who are fighting overseas are barred from returning to Australia.
