'Breaking Bad' director Michelle MacLaren to helm 'Wonder Woman'

Michelle MacLaren will be developing and directing Warner Bros' upcoming female superhero project 'Wonder Woman.'

According to the Hollywood Reporter, it has been a while since MacLaren was being considered for the big-screen adaptation centering DC's iconic character, which would be produced by Charles Roven, Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder among others, but now the deal has been sealed.

The movie will see 'Fast and Furious' star Gal Gadot play the superhero, and the character would make its debut in 2016's 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.'

As per the sources, there was internal pressure to have a woman on the director's chair, and with this deal, MacLaren has become the first female director to helm a superhero film in recent years.

 

The film is anticipated to release in 2017.
