China will make changes to the sweeping and controversial draft legislation of its national security law by adding its assets and activities in polar regions, space and the deep sea.

Chinese President Xi Jinping heads the newly established National Security Commission.

The independent reports that President Xi Jinping said that security of China covers a wide range of areas including the military, the economy, technology, politics, culture and the environment.

China has real and potential major national interests and faces security threats and challenges in space, the deep sea, polar regions and other strategic new frontiers, suggested some standing committee members, participants and departments.

China also seeks to become more active in the Antarctic and Arctic where the country believes it has major research and energy interests.
