Midfielder Jesus Corona netted a superb decisive goal as Mexico snatched a 1-1 draw against Venezuela to advance to the Copa America Centenario quarter-finals at NRG Stadium in Texas on Tuesday.
Venezuela took the lead first when defender Jose Manuel Velazquez scored a goal in the 10th minute of the match by pouncing on a header from Christian Santos, the Guardian reported.
Corona had missed several chances to open his side account before he finally managed to hand Mexico with an equalizer in the 84th minute.
Venezuela too had a chance to take a lead once again, but Josef Martinez's bicycle kick was saved by Mexico goalkeeper Jose de Jesus.
By winning the Group C, Mexico have also avoided a quarter-final clash against tournament favorite Argentina.
