People have taken to social media to accuse the Dalai Lama of sexism after he said that his successor could be a woman who must be "very attractive" else she would be "not much use".

According to The Huffington Post, the spiritual leader, when asked about the possibility of a female Dalai Lame, said if that happened, then their face should be "very attractive".

He also said that if a female Dalai Lama comes and they are not attractive then they are not of much use.

When asked if he was joking, the Dalai Lama said, "No, true".

It was a shocker when the Dalai Lama gave such a statement as he had earlier labelled himself a feminist.
