A new documentary, 'Written by Mrs, Bach' has claimed that there were many probabilities that Anna Magdalena, Johann Sebastian Bach's second wife, was the secret composer of some of his major pieces, including the 'Cello Suites.'
The documentary says that musical contribution by Magdalena, who had been an accomplished singer and known copyist, was far greater than previously thought, the Independent reported.
Forensic analysis of her manuscript handwriting has shown that the writing did not have the "slowness or heaviness" but was quick, uncertain hand of a creator.owever, renowned cellist Julian Lloyd Webber denied the theory saying that Magdalena, who a mother of 13 kids, would have been too busy looking after children to have time to produce manuscripts for such outstanding pieces.
Martin Jarvis, professor of music at Charles Darwin University in Australia, too said that the pieces deviate from other Bach works in significant structural and technical respects, making it likely they were the work of Anna, but added that Webber was positing a "typical male view".
