Australia has announced that a Dutch firm has been chosen to carry out an underwater operation to find the wreck of the Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 which went missing in March.

Furgo Survey will use two ships equipped with side-scan sonar, multi-beam echo sounders and video cameras to search a 60,000 sq km area in the Indian Ocean.

The analysis of satellite data showed that the aircraft might have ended its journey in seas far west of the Australian city of Perth, reported the BBC.

The search operation is scheduled to begin in September and may take up to a year.

The plane carrying 239 people went missing on March 8 during its flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
