Top seed Roger Federer remained on course for a record eighth title in Halle on Saturday after he edged out his Croatian opponent Ivo Karlovic in straight sets in their pulsating semi-final clash of the Gerry Weber Open.
The world number two overcame Karlovic 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-4) in a match that lasted one hour and 28 minutes.
Federer, who set up his 10th appearance in the Wimbledon-tune up event, will meet Italy's Andreas Seppi in Sunday's final.
