France advanced to the World Cup quarterfinals by a 2-0 win over Nigeria in their last-16 match in Brasilia.
Midfielder Paul Pogba netted the ball in the 79 th minute for France before Nigeria's defender Joseph Yobo diverted Mathieu Valbuena's cross pass his own goalkeeper to seal the victory for Didier Deschamps side.
According to the BBC, France will now face Germany, who defeated Algeria 2-1 after extra time, in the last eight at the Maracana on Friday.
Pogba said that he has no words to describe the feeling of making it to the World Cup quarterfinals, adding that the whole country is behind them and scoring that goal really liberated the team.
Meanwhile, France manager Didier Deschamps said that they had a very strong last half an hour with more dynamism and more speed, adding that the squad had space to create chances and could have scored quite a few times.
