Fans of former England international Paul Gascoigne, popularly known as 'Gazza', were left baffled and got worried about their hero's future after a 'Free Gaza' campaign went up on Twitter.
The Middle East crisis left followers of former football star Gascoigne confused, The Daily Star reported.
The Gaza Strip conflict has led to the deaths of more than 1,000 Palestinians and 48 Israelis since July 8 and internet users have begged Israel to rein in attacks after heavy bombing.
This led to the hashtag #freegaza trending on Twitter. But some fans thought that Gazza had been detained by cops.
Adam Stewart tweeted that he did not even know that Gascoigne 'Gazza' was in jail, while another fan, Sam Masterson, tweeting that shame about 'Gazza' being arrested again and adding '#freegaza' to his tweet.
Gazza is said to be fit and well after his battles with alcohol and drugs, the report added.
