Government releases draft bill on Road Transport Safety, seeks public feedback

The Government of India has prepared a draft of the proposed Road Transport and Safety Bill and uploaded it on the Road, Transport and Highways Ministry's website to seek suggestions from all stakeholders.

The draft bill aims to provide a scientific framework for the safety of all road users that will lead to safer, faster and cost effective movement of passengers and freight in the country.

Constituting a Motor Vehicle Regulation and Road Safety Authority of India has also been proposed in the bill.
