JK: Men attacked for hoisting tricolour thank CRPF officials for saving them

Three men who were allegedly thrashed by locals in Srinagar city for trying to unfurl the national flag at Lal Chowk's Clock Tower on Wednesday thanked the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officials for saving them.

Speaking to ANI, after returning from the valley, one of the victims said that they were treated well by the locals but as soon as they tried to unfurl the flag they attacked them.

"We went there to spread a message of peace in Kashmir. When we took out the tricolour and chanted 'Bharat Mata ki Jai', locals attacked us. It was the soldiers and police rescued us," said another victim.

 

The three men were allegedly thrashed by locals in Srinagar on August 14.

Following the spat, the man was rescued by the CRPF and the city police

The police has taken cognizance of the matter and has initiated the investigation.
