Kolkata: CBI arrests an enforcement officer in Rs. 20k bribery case

The (CBI) on Tuesday arrested an enforcement officer from Employees Organisation (EPFO), regional office in for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000.

A case has been registered against the enforcement officer, alleging that he had demanded for Rs. One lakh because the complainant was not complying with provisions of Act.

It was further alleged that the accused scaled down his demand to Rs. 20,000 as the complainant expressed his inability to pay such a huge amount and directed the complainant to pay him the said gratification.

The laid a trap and caught the accused red handed. Searches have been conducted at the office and residential premises of the enforcement officer.
