Lashkar commander killed in Shopian encounter

Indian security personnel killed a commander of a Lashkar militant outfit here on Saturday after a fierce firefight.

The encounter took place near Zainapora village of Shopian District.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (South Kashmir) Vijay Kumar said the dead militant has been identified as Abbas Reshi.

A search operation was still on when reports last came in.
