Top ranked women's doubles pair of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis suffered a shocking semi-final defeat against fourth seeded pair of Caroline Garcia and Katarina Srebotnik at the Rogers Cup in Toronto.

Mirza and Hingis endured a 3-6, 2-6 blow against the French-Slovenian duo in a contest that lasted almost an hour.

The Indian-Swiss duo had lifted the women's doubles title at Wimbledon this year.
