Mohamed Salah wins 2018 African Player of the Year award

and forward won the 2018 Confederation of African Football(CAF) of the Year award for the second consecutive year.

The 26-year-old forward beat his team-mate Sadio Mane of and Arsenal striker to clinch the title.

Expressing delight over the victory, said that he is proud of his achievements. He also thanked his friends, family, and teammates for assisting him throughout his journey.

"I can't believe it's been a year since I was last on this stage. I've always said this award for me is very big. I love it, because I saw it when I was young. I had the dream to win one day. So now I've won it twice. I'm very proud to have won it twice," quoted Salah, as saying.

"I have to thank my family, teammates, fans, and everyone who played a role in my career to make this happen today. I would love to dedicate this award to my country, Egypt," he added.

The Liverpool star forward finished his 2017-18 season with 32 goals and was awarded the Golden Boot.

After winning African of the year back to back, Salah has put himself in the elite company of players like El Hadji Diouf, and

will host the 2019 African Nation Cup which is slated to be held from June 15 to July 13.
