Former Pakistani President and military ruler Parvez Musharraf has said that India and Pakistan's backing for militant "proxies" in Afghanistan must come to an end.
According to the Guardian, Musharraf said that these militant proxies were the unhealthiest and "not in favour of Afghanistan, Pakistan or India".
Musharraf admitted in an interview that Pakistan sought to undermine the Afghan government when he was in power saying that the then Afghan president Hamid Karzai had "helped India stab Pakistan in the back".
He also said that there should be complete cooperation now with the current Afghan president Ashraf Ghani as he is trying to restore balance in Afghanistan.
Musharraf has become quite vocal in the recent past as his position in Pakistan improves after he suffered many setbacks following his return from self-exile in 2013.
