Nelson Mandela's health better than week ago, says wife

Anti-apartheid hero Nelson Mandela has improved over the last week, his wife Graca Machel said.

Earlier, Mandela was critical but in a stable condition.

The New York Daily News reports that he is responding to the treatment in a Pretoria hospital.

Mandela was admitted to the hospital to receive treatment for a recurring lung infection.
