Pak anti-terrorism court sentences two TTP men to death for 2010 Ahmadi attack

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) here sentenced two Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) men, Moavia and Abdullah, to death on Saturday for their role in a deadly attack on an Ahmadi place of worship in 2010.

Ninety-four people were killed and over 100 others were injured in the May 28, 2010 attack on two Ahmadiyya places of worship in Lahore.

The Punjabi Taliban, a local affiliate of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (the Pakistani Taliban or TTP), claimed responsibility for the incident.

According to the Dawn, the ATC sentenced Abdullah to death on nine counts, whereas Moavia was given the death penalty and asked to pay a fine of Rs.3.3 million

 

The ATC hearing took place at Kot Lakhpat Jail where the convicts were held. The single-bench court has also sentenced the accused to serve jail-time of seven years.
