Thespian Pallavi Joshi has informed the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting that she does not want to be a part of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) society.
Joshi's decision comes amidst a growing unrest among students over Chauhan's appointment as the chairman of the institute.
Joshi has reportedly written a letter to the ministry saying that she does not want to be a part of the FTII society owing to the cloud of negativity that is surrounding the institute.
Students of the FTII have been protesting against Chauhan's appointment due to his affiliation to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and his lack of experience and stature. A billboard at the entrance of the institute had last week asked Chauhan to resign and leave.
Other student groups have been protesting against the decision as well, with organisations like the AISA encouraging Chauhan to quit.
