President Mukherjee undergoes heart procedure

President Pranab Mukherjee underwent a heart procedure at the Army's Research and Referral hospital here yesterday.

According to reports, the doctors have installed a coronary stent in President Mukherjee's artery to remove a blockage. He was taken to the hospital after he complained of some problems.

Coronary angioplasty is a procedure used to open blocked or narrowed coronary (heart) arteries. The procedure improves blood flow to the heart muscle.
