A minor girl who allegedly repeatedly raped by her neighour and threatened with release of indecent videos on social media, gave birth to a child in northern Tripura.
The victim, a candidate of class ten board examinations went into labour pain while she was heading from her village towards her exam centre.
The incident took place in Halflong area under Dharmanagar subdivision adjoining to Assam.
"I am a candidate of metric examination and he (alleged rapist) forcefully had done this (raped) six month prior to the death of my father. His name is Pratap Debnath. I was going for my examination and on the way I went into labour and he brought in a vehicle and admitted me here. He assured that he would accept me along with the child but now he denied," said the victim.
"He threatened that he will release (video) in the net and my reputation will be ruined," she added.
The minor had given birth to a health child in the Dharmanagar sub-divisional hospital on Tuesday.
A complain has been lodged against the accused in the Dharmanagar police station.
Later as the accused was trying to flee from the area police arrested and put him behind the bars.
Sub-divisional police officer Dharmanagar Rajdeep Deb said that on the basis of FIR with Dharmanagar police station police has registered a case under section 376 of the IPC.
"Yesterday the minor victim girl gave birth to a mature baby boy. The complaint is like this that she was raped without her consent. Immediately after registering the complain we came to know that he was escaping from Dharmanagar area. Within one hour we could nab him and now he is under custody," said Rajdeep Deb.
