Russia has denied a visa to 'Miss Kosovo' who was to travel to Moscow for the 'Miss Universe' pageant.
Mirjeta Shala, who was crowned 'Miss Kosovo' in August, was to fly to Moscow to contest in the pageant scheduled for November 9, but has been denied a visa as Russia doesn't recognize Kosovo's independence from Yugoslavia, the New York Post reported.
The pageant's official photographer, Fadil Berisha said that Shala would have been a contender and her fans were expecting her to win the pageant which will see contestants participating from 90 other countries.
Berisha added that some of the homosexual hairdressers and stylists who are usually part of the 'Miss Universe' crew decline to travel to Russia as they are afraid they would be jailed considering the strict gay laws in the country.
