Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy on Friday said he stood by his tweets, wherein he demanded a tab on all those, except close friends and family, who assembled before Yakub Memon's dead body.
"I have said that except close friends and relatives, anyone else who has gone to his funeral they ought to be watched by the intelligence. What is wrong about that? Why did those people go to accompany or stand before the body of a dreaded terrorist?" Roy told ANI here.
Roy had earlier sparked criticism for his tweets about Yakub Memon, who was hanged yesterday for his role in the 1993 blasts in Mumbai.
"Intelligence shd keep a tab on all (expt relatives & close friends) who assembled bfr Yakub Memon's corpse. Many are potential terrorists," Roy had said on twitter.
"Governors ought to be concerned abt security of state. Intelligence keeping tab on Yakub's mourners is preventing terror. Better than cure," he added.
