A Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks who depicted the Prophet Muhammad as a dog has received a prize for courage from a free press group at an event in Danish Parliament in Copenhagen.
Vilks has made his first public appearance since the Copenhagen attack last month at a debate, reported the BBC.
Vilks said while receiving the prize that he never aimed to become the symbol of free speech.
The event was heavily secured at the Danish parliament.
The cartoonist, who has offended many Muslims, now lives in Sweden under guard.
