ANI Kabul

Two gunmen in Afghan military uniform have shot dead two NATO soldiers in Helmand province.

According to TOLO News, the attack is the first since April.

These attacks highlight the long-simmering tensions between Afghan and foreign forces.

A NATO statement said both Resolute Support service members died after the gunmen opened fire on their vehicle at a compound in Helmand Province.

The statement added that service members killed the shooters.

NATO ended its combat mission in Afghanistan in December last year, pulling out a bulk of its troops.

However, a 13,000-strong residual force remains in the country for training and counter-terrorism operations.
