Australian cricketer Matthew Wade, who is the captain of domestic side Victoria, will reportedly be replaced by Robert Quiney as the skipper for the Sheffield Shield match against Western Australia after his appeal against a one-match ban was dismissed.

Wade had appealed a Cricket Australia (CA) code of behaviour charge of interfering with the pitch while batting in the previous match against Tasmania last weekend

According to News.com.au, a hearing in Melbourne dismissed Wade's appeal and upheld the original suspension and a fine of 50 per cent of his match fee, following which Wade's wicketkeeping duties will be handed to No. 3 batsman Peter Hanscomb.

Cricket Victoria CEO Tony Dodemaide said that although they are disappointed by the outcome on Wade's appeal, they appreciate the thoroughness of the process and accept that the matter is now concluded.
