Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that World No Tobacco Day reminds of the harms associated with tobacco consumption and a day to reaffirm our commitment to reduce this menace.

Prime Minister Modi took to Twitter to share his thoughts.

"World No Tobacco Day reminds us of the harms associated with tobacco consumption and a day to reaffirm our commitment to reduce this menace," he tweeted

"The @WHO's focus on stopping illicit trade of tobacco products is a laudatory effort that will help in minimising tobacco consumption," he added.

World No Tobacco Day, which is observed on May 31 every year, aims at encouraging a 24-hour period of abstinence from all forms of tobacco consumption around the globe.
