Basic materials shares under stress

Basic materials stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index falling 15.3 points or 0.59% at 2593.26 at 13:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Insecticides India Ltd (down 8.2%), Bhansali Engineering Polymers Ltd (down 7.89%),Bodal Chemicals Ltd (down 5.68%),Pokarna Ltd (down 4.97%),Uniply Industries Ltd (down 4.73%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Prakash Industries Ltd (down 4.42%), Zuari Agro Chemicals Ltd (down 3.68%), Ballarpur Industries Ltd (down 3.51%), I G Petrochemicals Ltd (down 3.34%), and JK Lakshmi Cement Ltd (down 3.25%).

On the other hand, Camlin Fine Sciences Ltd (up 6.2%), Seya Industries Ltd (up 5%), and P I Industries Ltd (up 3.67%) moved up.

 

At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 59.38 or 0.15% at 40299.26.

The Nifty 50 index was up 15.2 points or 0.13% at 11872.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 9.77 points or 0.07% at 13135.5.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 9.81 points or 0.21% at 4619.32.

On BSE,861 shares were trading in green, 1419 were trading in red and 193 were unchanged.
