Basic materials shares slide
Basic materials stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index falling 18.09 points or 0.69% at 2602.65 at 13:48 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Sadhana Nitro Chem Ltd (down 8.56%), National Peroxide Ltd (down 8.24%),Neogen Chemicals Ltd (down 5.44%),Shiva Cement Ltd (down 4.99%),Seya Industries Ltd (down 4.97%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Indian Hume Pipe Company Ltd (down 4.95%), Vikas Ecotech Ltd (down 4.86%), Uniply Industries Ltd (down 4.85%), Sanghi Industries Ltd (down 4.52%), and Ruchira Papers Ltd (down 4.29%).
On the other hand, Rain Industries Ltd (up 7.77%), Hil Ltd (up 7.57%), and Fine Organic Industries Ltd (up 6.71%) moved up.
At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 47.67 or 0.12% at 40163.73.
The Nifty 50 index was down 6.1 points or 0.05% at 11834.35.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 4.98 points or 0.04% at 13339.71.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 2.75 points or 0.06% at 4626.91.
On BSE,916 shares were trading in green, 1406 were trading in red and 150 were unchanged.
